CSA provides one of the largest face-to-face Language, Literacy and Numeracy programs in New South Wales and has been involved with this program for over seven years. CSA delivers the Language. Literacy and Numeracy Training on behalf of The Department of Science, Education and Training and works closely with Centrelink to provide training to Non English Speaking Backgrounds, the unemployed, the long term unemployed and those who require English skills to assist them to find employment.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy is delivered from three of CSA’s four training facilities which include, Cabramatta, Fairfield and Liverpool sites. The target group is a challenging group in terms of training development, given their individual needs. Trainers for the program are selected for their demonstrated capabilities with this group.

The Program Co-ordinator has extensive experience in delivering training and co-ordinating educational programs for candidates with learning difficulties and behavioural problems, internationally.

The Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program has two elements, for example:

1) Assessment of candidates relating existing skills to the National Reporting Standards for Language, Literacy and Numeracy and providing an extensive report of assessment outcomes.

2) Provision of training in Language, Literacy and Numeracy specific to each participant. There are three streams of training available to participants Basic English Language, Advanced English Language and Literacy and Numeracy. The delivery strategy for the training element is mixed; there will be a component of classroom teacher directed learning and a component of external self directed study.

There are two objectives to the Program:

1) To increase the participant’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills and achieve one whole National Reporting Standard or to the standard appropriate to their position.

2) To provide the client with a solution to the Language, Literacy and Numeracy problem and provide them with the skills to gain employment.

CSA has proved to be very successful at assisting people increase their Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills working with people who have limited English to those who just need to improve to enhance their employment opportunities.
