About this course:

The Certificate III in Children’s Services is perfect for those wishing to become a Child Care Assistant, Nanny, Playgroup Supervisor, Family Day Care Worker, or Mobile Childcare Assistant.

What will be learnt:

The Cert III in Children’s Services will teach many facets of child care. You will learn how to identify and respond to children at risk and harm, how to provide care for young children, how to support in the development of, and interact with children, as well as how to provide experiences to support a child’s play and learning.

Additionally, in this childcare course you will learn how to ensure children’s health and safety, apply first aid, care for babies, and how to work effectively with families in caring for their child, among a range of other excellent child care and work based skills.

Course outline and structure:

This Cert III in Children’s Services course will provide first class training and support for learners while undertaking your training. CSA Training Services has over 20 years experience in delivering many different kinds of nationally accredited and recognised community training programs designed to meet the needs of learners from a broad range of backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD).

The course is comprised of 11 core units, and 4 electives. It is Australia’s nationally recognised and accredited qualification in child care, and is designed for those interested in working throughout the industry in various roles as outlined above.

During the course up to 240 hours of workplace-based experience will be undertaken to solidify practical experience and skills in working with children.

Entry requirements:      

There is no formal prerequisite for this qualification, however a sound understanding of English with suggested year 10 or equivalent completion is recommended and preferred.

RPL – is offered to any learner who can provide evidence of competency for units offered within this Cert III. During the enrolment process a potential learner will complete a checklist and discuss any prior experience before commencing to determine their eligibility for RPL.

Training Schedule:

TBD – however typically 5 to 7 weeks face to face learning, 5 days a week for 5 hours a day and approx two to four weeks work experience.

The Australian Government has introduced a National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and there have been a number of changes to the requirements under the new National Quality Standard. All early childhood education workers are required to have the minimum qualification of a Certificate III in Children’s Services and must comply by 1 January 2012.
